A Celebration with Caesars HEROs
What a difference a year makes! HealthyBrains.org, since its inception, has engaged thousands of people from all parts of the globe who, like YOU, wanted to take control of their brain health and learn more about clinical trials. To help spread the word, the Healthy Brains team attended health fairs and educated many community leaders and organizations about their brain health. The best news is, thanks to people like you, thousands volunteered to potentially participate in clinical trials and several enrolled in an ongoing Alzheimer’s prevention trial. Now that’s taking action to join the fight against brain diseases!
HealthyBrains.org commemorated its one year anniversary on May 12, 2016 with the helping hands of Caesars SMART HEROs, a volunteer group from the Caesars Foundation dedicated to the promotion of health and wellness for seniors. The celebration, spanning nine of Caesars Entertainment Las Vegas hotels, was befitting of the Roman Empire itself. Inside the walls of Caesars Palace, Bally’s, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Paris, Rio, The LINQ, The Cromwell, and Planet Hollywood restaurants offered “healthy brain” menu specials, employee dining rooms served fish and leafy greens, volunteers educated fellow employees on how to access and use the HealthyBrains app, and quiz takers received colorful “Healthy Brains” poker chips as a remembrance of the day. A brain health boosting birthday indeed!
In fact, in a few short hours, over 700 Caesars entertainment employees, eager to explore ways to improve and take control of their brain health, visited the HealthyBrains website. Many of those visitors completed the free brain check-up and received their Brain Health Index or BHI. Way to go SMART HEROs!
Caesars Entertainment originally joined forces with Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health by providing the clinic a grant to develop HealthyBrains.org. May 12, 2015 marked the launch of the website and the day was proclaimed as “HealthyBrains Day” by Mayor Carolyn Goodman of Las Vegas. In January of 2016, the Caesars SMART HEROs pitched in and volunteered to help reach and teach more users about the HealthyBrains website. Nearly 40 SMART HEROs with iPads in hand participated in the anniversary event.
“The HealthyBrains Day initiative served as a valuable opportunity to combine the hands-on efforts of our HERO volunteers with the Caesars Foundation funding to advance our overall goal of improving community wellness,” said Mark Frissora, President and CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “The program plays an important role in raising awareness among both our team members and our guests about the importance of taking a proactive approach to brain health.”
Thanks to Caesars Entertainment, Caesars SMART HEROs, and HealthyBrains.org participants like YOU, the project has continued to grow and improve, allowing more to take control of their brain health and learn more about clinical trials.
“Help us continue the celebration by completing or re-taking your HealthyBrains check-up,” says Dr. Kate Zhong of Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. “You too, like the employees and volunteers at Caesars Entertainment can take control of your brain health and contribute to our growing clinical trials registry that will help speed the discovery of new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurological illnesses.”
Happy Birthday HealthyBrains!
